Step in and sit: a walk-in chamber with no crawling into a tube
The C4-Tent is Newtowne's walk-in chamber for people who do not want to crawl into a tube. Step in through an upright, floor-level zipper door and sit in the folding chair that ships with it. Fully pressurized it measures 72 × 40 × 58 inches on a steel frame, runs at 4 PSI (about 1.3 ATA), and includes a 120 L compressor with filter, internal and external pressure gauges, two viewports and a power-outage alarm. It is a single-user chamber unless Newtowne approves another setup in writing.
Best for: Users who prefer an upright, floor-level entry and a seated 1.3 ATA session at home.
What a session looks like
Zip yourself into the chamber and start the compressor. Newtowne chambers pressurize with room air only, so oxygen (if you use it) is delivered separately through a mask or cannula from a concentrator. The gauge lets you watch pressure as it rises to about 4 PSI (1.3 ATA), and at the end of the session you open the deflate valve and let pressure drop before unzipping. Many users schedule sessions of roughly 60 to 90 minutes.
Space, power and setup
Because these chambers pressurize with room air, a compressor is essential; oxygen, if you want it, needs a separate concentrator (check the box contents for what is included). Plan a flat area for the frame, a grounded 120 V outlet and enough clearance around the chamber, and follow Newtowne's manual for setup and use. Operating notes
- Pressurize with room air only. Never pressurize the chamber with oxygen; an optional oxygen concentrator delivers oxygen through the mask or cannula.
- Keep the compressor running for the whole session. If power stops or the air hose disconnects, open the deflate valve, depressurize and exit.
- Do not open the zippers until the chamber material is no longer rigid.
- No solvents, alcohol, bleach, adhesives or sealants on the chamber.
A hyperbaric chamber is a pressurized environment.
