Renting vs Buying a Hyperbaric Chamber: How to Do the Math

September 27, 2026 2 min read

Short answer: Buying makes sense when you expect to use the chamber often for years. Renting, leasing or paying per session makes sense when you are unsure. To compare fairly, divide the full cost of owning by the number of sessions you expect, then set that figure against the per-session price of an alternative you can actually get. Owning includes the chamber, the oxygen equipment, electricity and upkeep.

The formula

Cost per session = (chamber + oxygen equipment + delivery and setup + upkeep + electricity) divided by expected sessions.

Example using a list price only: a chamber at $9,995 used 250 times costs about $40 per session before oxygen equipment and running costs. Used 500 times it is about $20 per session. Add the oxygen equipment, delivery and electricity to get your real figure. Use our cost calculator for your own numbers.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate the cost per session?

Add the chamber, oxygen equipment, delivery, upkeep and electricity, then divide by the sessions you expect to run.

A hyperbaric chamber is a pressurized, oxygen-enriched environment. Use only as directed in the manufacturer's manual, keep flames, sparks and heat sources away, and consult a physician before use. Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition.
