How Loud Is a Home Hyperbaric Chamber? Noise and Placement

Short answer: Most of the noise comes from the equipment, not the chamber: the air compressor, the oxygen concentrator and any cooler. Few manufacturers publish decibel figures. The OxyRevo Heal40 lists a sound level of 50 dB or less, and Summit to Sea lists a sound-suppression system on its pumps. Ask for a decibel figure for each piece of equipment before you buy, and plan where the equipment will sit.

What makes the noise
- Air compressor. Fills the chamber and keeps pressure steady. OxyRevo's Standard-version compressor is listed at 550 W and 72 L/min.
- Oxygen concentrator. Runs continuously. The OxyRevo HG10 is listed at 500 W and 66 lbs.
- Air cooler. Dehumidifies and cools the intake air on some setups.
- Pressure-release valves. Brief noise when you vent.

Decibel figures depend on how and where they are measured, so treat any number as a guide.
Placement tips
- Keep the compressor and concentrator as far from your resting spot as the hoses allow. Ask the manufacturer for hose length and any limits.
- Put equipment on a hard, level surface, away from walls that would amplify vibration.
- Leave airflow clearance around each unit for cooling and intake.
- Do not enclose oxygen equipment in a closet without ventilation. Follow the manual.
