Mild vs. Medical HBOT: Differences in Pressure, Access and Regulation

Short answer: Medical HBOT is delivered in hospital or clinical chambers at higher pressures under supervision, for conditions the FDA has cleared it for. Mild hyperbaric chambers are soft-shell, lower-pressure units (1.3 to about 1.5 ATA) intended for home or studio use. Hard-shell chambers we carry sit between the two: rated up to 2.0 ATA and priced from about $25,000 to $82,000. Which one fits you is a decision for your physician.

What the FDA has cleared
The FDA clears hyperbaric chambers for a specific list of medical conditions, such as decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning and certain non-healing wounds. Using a chamber for other purposes is outside those clearances, and the FDA has cautioned consumers about unproven claims. We do not make medical claims about any chamber. Ask each manufacturer for its regulatory status and intended use.

What is the difference between mild and medical HBOT?
Medical HBOT uses higher pressures in hospital or clinical chambers with trained staff, for conditions the FDA has cleared it for. Mild chambers run at a lower pressure and are designed for home or studio use.
Do any home chambers reach 2.0 ATA?
Hard-shell chambers from Macy-Pan, OxyRevo and Oxyair are rated up to 2.0 ATA. They cost more and are generally used with a trained operator.
